Introducing: The Tuts

Introducing is a new series in which we share some of the artists we’re currently listening to. Please check them out and give your support.

First up are West London’s The Tuts: Nadia, Harriet and Beverley, a 3-piece powerpop girl group that we’ve fallen in love with. Check out The Tuts’ I Call You Up off their S/T EP released in 2012.

Clocking in just under 2 minutes, I Call You Up is a perfect pop tune full to the brim with infectious verve and abundance of blistering youthfulness. Beautifully unpolished, it has an honest edge without sounding whacky, twee or trying-too-hard-indie.

Hints of the C-86 scene (Shop Assistants, Pooh Sticks) and early-Bangles, Kleenex (later Liliput), Au Pairs, Runaways, well you get the picture.

There’s a wide-eyed joy in their music that’s missing from so many acts these days. Let’s hope The Tuts never grow up.
